Piazza Barberini is one of the more recognizable Roman squares, mainly due to the shooting of some famous film productions. Its central element is the Triton Fountain, made in 1643 according to Bernini's design. In addition to the group of sculptures, there is the coat of arms of its founder, Pope Urbana VIII. In the corner of the square is the second fountain - delle Api, also by Bernini. The fountain has a vertically arranged shell with three bees over a stone bowl. Insects refer to the coat of arms of the Barberini family.
Near the square there is a beautiful, 17th-century Palazzo Barberini, made to order by Cardinal Francesco Barberini. Nearby there is the beautiful Capuchin church of Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappuccini with the famous crypt where the bones of the monks are stored. It is interesting to note that until the eighteenth century Piazza Barberini started the route of the car with the corpses found in the city in order to identify them.
