The church was built in the 18th century, after the earthquake in 1693. The object stands in a place where, according to tradition, Saint. Agata suffered a martyr's death. Noteworthy is the chapel dedicated to St. Agata, altars and works of art, among others a fresco by Giuseppe Barone 1938 and paintings of eighteenth-century Sicilian painters.
