Castell'Arquato is a medieval town full of monuments situated on a picturesque hill. Its decoration is a 14th-century fortress and a Romanesque church.
The history of the village dates back to Roman times. Their city was destroyed during the migrations of peoples, but it was reborn as early as in the 7th century. The first mention of the local church of St. Maria. Reconstructed several times, it currently represents the Romanesque style.
The greatest attraction and monument of Castell'Arquato is the Visconti Fortress, built in the 14th century. Filled with towers, it looks like a fairy-tale castle from a distance. It forms a structure called mastio, consisting of chambers and towers connected by a system of stairs.
The center of Castell'Arquato is small and centered around the fortress. In addition to it, you can also see stone residential houses, the 18th-century Podesta Palace and the former Holy Spirit Hospital, which houses the Geological Museum.
