Basilica of St. Stephen

One of the best preserved monuments of Romanesque architecture in Bologna, part of a modern complex of temples, called Sette Chiese (Seven Churches). In the Middle Ages, the Basilica of Santo Stefano was one of the largest in Europe. The church is the former temple of the Egyptian goddess Isis transformed into the burial place of the first Christians.
