Serbian Church Museum
Local name: Szerb Egyházi Múzeum
The Serbian Orthodox Museum has the largest collection of Orthodox religious objects in Hungary. Most of the items in the collection come from the 18th century. These are primarily icons, liturgical items and iconostasis, as well as richly decorated bibles, pastors, furniture and other items of equipment. One of the most valuable exhibits in the collection is a portrait of the Serbian patriarch Arsenius III Čarnojević.
In the museum's collections, visitors can see, among others, icons by Ostoja Mrkojevic, Mitrofan Zograf, Nedelko Podovic, Mihailo Živkovic and Pavel Đurkovic. Some of the presented Baroque objects were made to order by Hungarian, Austrian and other foreign artists, and some by local Serbian craftsmen. The museum was founded in 1964. His seat is the building located in the garden behind the Belgrade Church.
