Public Transportation Museum
Local name: Városi Tömegközlekedési Múzeum
The Museum of Public Transport in Szentendre presents visitors the history of public transport in Budapest and other Hungarian cities. The exhibition is partly inside the building and partly outside. The main part of the museum's collection are antique vehicles, i.e. buses, trams and trolley buses, but we will also see photos, documents and various devices, tools and equipment. One of the oldest vehicles presented is tram line 418, manufactured in 1897.
The museum has permanent exhibitions presented in several rooms. In the first room, visitors will learn about the history of public transport in Budapest, from horse-drawn tramways to the construction of the metro. The exhibition in the second room presents communication systems in Debrecen, Szeged, Miskolc and other cities. In the third and fourth rooms you can see the tools and equipment needed to maintain communication systems.
