The Christian Museum in Ostrzyhom has the largest collections of sacred art in Hungary, and at the same time is one of the three most important galleries of Hungarian and European art. The permanent museum exhibitions are located on the second floor of the Primate's Palace. The museum's extensive collection has been divided into individual exhibitions according to the time of creation and the field of art. The oldest monuments kept here come from the 13th century, and the newest from the 20th century.
The Christian Museum has eight permanent exhibitions. As part of individual exhibitions, visitors can see, among others, Gothic painting and sculpture of German and Hungarian artists, Italian Renaissance and Baroque paintings, as well as Hungarian, Austrian and German baroque paintings. Other exhibitions present collections of applied art as well as Orthodox icons.
The Primate's Palace is one of the largest buildings in Ostrzyhom. It was built by József Lippert in 1881-1883 on the site of an earlier Jesuit monastery. The building represents the neo-Renaissance style.
