The Delizsansz Exhibition Hall and the Postal Museum allow visitors to learn about the history of postal services and communications in Debrecen and Hungary. A collection of 225,000 postage stamps belongs to the most valuable parts of the exhibition.
The composition of the exhibition was based on a small post office arranged in the center of the room. Here we can see typical mail equipment, numerous documents, photos and souvenirs documenting the history of mail. A valuable collection of postage stamps was donated to the museum by a Hungarian botanist and collector, Dr. Rezső Soó.
The history of the post office in Debrecen dates back to the first half of the 18th century, when the postman profession first appeared here. The first post office was established at the end of the 18th century. The museum, which started its activity in 1980, is located in the post office building built in 1931. It was designed by Aladár Kerek Münnich in the style of historicism.
