The academy is housed in a neoclassical building, which construction lasted from 1859 to 1885. The main building is modeled on the ancient temple, the Parthenon. Along the stairs leading to the academy are the statues of Plato and Socrates, and slightly higher the columns topped with sculptures of Apollo and Athena.
