Schönebeck (Elbe) is a town that has been involved in salt mining since the Middle Ages. There is also a health resort based on saline waters, which offers medical and relaxation treatments surrounded by a beautiful spa park.

The city owed its centuries-old development to salt mines that had been exploited since the Middle Ages. At the same time, brine springs, which were initially used primarily for salt extraction, were also discovered. It was not until the beginning of the 19th century that they began to be obtained for medicinal purposes. It was then that the Bad Salzelmen district was established, in which there are spa facilities to this day.

A big attraction of Schönebeck (Elbe) is the historic spa park, part of which is the Solepark Schönebeck-Bad Salzelmen. There are saline graduation towers, which are used for inhalation treatments, as well as a historic walking hall and park architecture. In the spa, you can also visit the Kunsthof Bad Salzelmen, which exhibits collections related to the history of the city.
