Rastatt is a town with preserved baroque buildings, which was established in the 18th century as a result of the decision of the Margraves of Baden. There are two palaces here, where you can admire not only well-preserved interiors, but also exhibits from several museums.

Until the 18th century, Rastatt was a small, indistinct town of local commercial importance. Its golden age began at the end of the 17th century after it was destroyed by the French. Reconstruction began on the order of Ludwik Wilhelm, margrave of Baden, who moved his seat here.

Until 1770, the margraves of Baden-Baden lived in Rastatt. The Rastatt Castle, which is today the city's greatest attraction, was erected here at that time. It is a typical example of a baroque residence "between the yard and the garden". In its vicinity, there is a picturesque castle park with ponds and walking paths. The interiors of the palace have survived in good condition during the Second World War and are presented to visitors today. There is also the Museum of Military History and the Museum of German independence movements related to the events that took place here during the spring of peoples.

On the outskirts of Rastatt is the baroque Favorite Castle. It was built as a hunting lodge and resting place for the margraves of Baden-Baden. Currently, its interior houses a rich collection of porcelain.

In addition to the palaces in Rastatt, there is also a historic market square with tenement houses from the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as several interesting churches.
