The baroque residence of Margrave Ludwig Wilhelm von Baden-Baden was built in 1700 according to the design of the Italian architect Domenico Egidio Rossi. The palace survived all turmoil unscathed - it is now a great museum of interiors and the seat of institutions dealing with the history of the military and German freedom movements.
