St. Clement's Church

Local name: St. Clemens Kirche

St. catholic church Klemensa was built in the first half Of the twentieth century by later Bishop Clemens von Galen to support wanderers and craftsmen coming to Berlin. Inside this historic church, a huge mural depicting Christ as the Good Shepherd, neo-Roman finishing touches and carved wooden organs catches the eye. The showcase of the building are richly decorated entrance doors made of wood.

The church Klemensa is a typical example of a backyard church because it was hidden between residential buildings, making it invisible from the street. Building temples in this way was caused by discrimination against the Catholic minority in Berlin in the 19th century.

There is also a hospice next to the church, which together with the temple creates the Divine Mercy Center.
