Bad Salzuflen is a health resort with brine springs and an active tourism center. The mountainous region on the edge of the Teutoburg Forest is ideal for hiking and biking tours, and the trail network allows you to compose both closer and further tours.
From medieval times, Bad Salzuflen was associated with the mining of salt. Initially, it was obtained before evaporation from brines, and later salt mines were built here. Some historic drifts have survived to this day. The salt trade gave the city large profits, which allowed it to develop. The evidence of prosperity is the Old Town with preserved half-timbered buildings and renaissance tenement houses of urban patricians.
In the 19th century, Bad Salzuflen began to develop as a health resort. Its foundation was brine springs. Used since the Middle Ages to extract salt, they have proven to be a valuable healing resource. The Spa Park and the Graduation Tower were established here. Currently, the biggest attraction of Bad Salzuflen is the VitaSol Thermal Baths, consisting of outdoor and indoor pools, a spa center, saunas, treatment and wellness rooms and a recreational center.
