Bad Harzburg is a well-known health resort and resort town in the Harz Mountains. There is a thermal swimming pool using brine waters, and there are many picturesque hiking and cycling routes in the area, including the original Path in the Crowns of Trees.
Warm brine springs were discovered in the area in the second half of the 16th century. The history of Bad Harzburg itself is even longer because it dates back to the time of Charlemagne. In the Middle Ages a castle stood here, the ruins of which can be seen on the Harzburg Castle Mountain. The Burgberg gondola lift runs to the hill.
The town began to develop as a resort in the nineteenth century. Then, across Europe, there was a fashion for trips to the waters. The central part of the spa is the spa park with a mineral water pump room. There are also Sole Baths among the most famous in this part of Germany.
The surroundings of Bad Harzburg are a great place for active tourism. Numerous walking and tourist paths have been marked out here, including the Wild Cat Adventure Trail related to lynx inhabiting these areas and Baumwurzelpfad Harz. A popular walking trail also leads to the East Cross and its vantage point. The biggest attraction of this type is, however, the 700-meter path in the Harz Tree Crowns, next to which the Skyrope rope park operates.
Bad Harzburg belongs to places focused on family, active rest. There is an amusement park Enchanted Forest, where you can meet heroes of fairy tales and fairy tales. Adventure Golf Bad Harzburg is also very popular.
