The cathedral was built in the first half of the 13th century by the prince of Saxony, Henry the Lion. It consists of a five-nave, Gothic-Romanesque corps with a transept and a two-tower facade. The interior hides many valuable works of art, including polychromes from the 13th century depicting the Last Judgment and scenes from the Holy Bible. There are also gravestones of the Henryk Lew family.
