The temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the most interesting and best preserved Romanesque buildings in Germany. The cathedral is famous for the bronze elements of the original furnishings, including the monumental Bernward Gate from 1015 and the magnificently decorated late Roman font from 1225.
