Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval is an alpine village located in a beautiful, mountainous amphitheater, surrounded by mountain ranges reaching over 2,500 m above sea level. It belongs to the Grand-Massif ski resort with over 250 km of ski slopes.
The town is on the list of the most beautiful villages in France. It owes it to its picturesque, mountainous location and traditional buildings. Its name comes from the shape of the valley, which creates an amphitheater in this place that looks like a silhouette of a horse from above.
The village consists of several settlements that are scattered in different parts of the valley. Visiting Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval you can see, among others traditional mountain houses and the historic gothic church of St. Magdalena.
The attractions of Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval include, above all, numerous opportunities for active leisure, at any time of the year. This area belongs to one of the main ski resorts in the French Alps, Grand-Massif. There are over 250 km of ski slopes, snow parks, freeride tracks and toboggan runs available throughout its area. In summer, on the other hand, hiking trails of various difficulty levels allow you to spend your free time actively. The Rouget Waterfall is a popular excursion destination.
