Mont Blanc 4808 m

The highest peak in Europe, popularly called the Roof of Europe, was conquered for the first time in 1786 by physician Michel Paccard and minerals seeker Jacques Balmat. Under the peak runs a tunnel connecting France with Italy - countries that have been disputing since the nineteenth century about whose territory lies the top of the mountain.
