A city on the Cote d'Azur, primarily associated with one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world. It is also a well-known and expensive seaside resort with a promenade and a small Old Town.
Cannes comes alive always in May, when the biggest stars of world cinema come here. The Film Festival, in which the main prize is Złoat Palma is one of the best known in the world. Most of the stars live in the Carlton Hotel on the Croisette, while film and gala shows take place at the famous Festival Palace. A permanent trace of the presence of actors and directors is also the famous Avenue of Stars with their palm prints.
Unlike most cities of the Cote d'Azur, Cannes boasts a wide, sandy beach that every year attracts tourists here for a dream vacation. The city owes its position to Lord Henry Brougham, who in the mid-nineteenth century discovered it for tourism and built a summer residence here, to which he invited friends aristocrats.
A medieval castle rises above the port and the coast, in which today a museum and a tower with a viewing terrace operate. You can reach it through a small but very picturesque old town full of restaurants and bars open until late.
