Nykøbing Mors is the largest city on the island of Mors. Numerous monuments testify to its long history. There are also plenty of places to go hiking and cycling in the surrounding area.
The city has existed since the Middle Ages and was known in the past mainly thanks to the Dueholm Monastery. Currently, its gothic buildings house a local museum, showing the history and culture of the island of Mors. Another memento of the past is the Gothic Mors Church in Nykøbing.
The island of Mors is known for its gentle, undulating landscapes. On the north coast are the scenic Hanklit cliffs. The biggest attraction in the Nykøbing Mors area is the Jasperhus Garden, which is the largest flower park in the Scandinavian countries. Family entertainment is offered by the Safarii Hama Park, and many interesting facts from the history of industry can be found in the Morso Tractor Museum and the Danish Foundry Museum.
There has been a port in Nykøbing Mors since the Middle Ages. Today it is mainly of local importance. There is also the Nykøbing Mors marina, adapted to accommodate boats and tourist yachts. There is also the Eastern Beach in the city, which is often chosen by holidaymakers in the season.
