Allingåbro is a small town that developed from the mid-19th century at the crossing of the Alling River, and then at the railway station. It is now a local commercial center with a museum in the former station building.

Until the mid-nineteenth century, there were only a few houses in the area, the inhabitants of which were engaged in agriculture. The construction of the bridge over the Alling River meant that the first warehouses for merchants were built here. The importance of the settlement increased when a railway line and a station were built. Today, the old station building is turned into a museum and cultural center Djursland For Fuld Damp. There is also a Workshop Museum presenting old craft tools.

The neo-gothic Vejlba church with a massive faith also comes from the 19th century. Around it there is a picturesque flower and shrub garden. On the other hand, in the building of the former forester's lodge, there is a museum devoted to forest workers and their service.
