Local name: Lobkowiczký Palác
The Lobkowicz family palace is the only private building in the Prague Castle. There is an art museum with collections belonging to the largest and oldest collections in the Czech Republic. You can see about 1,500 paintings in it, including such famous artists as Pieter Bruegel, Pieter Brueghel the Younger, Jan Brueghel, Diego Velázquez, Peter Paul Rubens, Paolo Veronese and Canaletto.
The Lobkowicz family also gathered a rich collection of books and decorative items from the period from the 13th to the 20th century. The Music Archive, in turn, contains works by over 500 composers and musicians (including works by Handel, Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven), as well as a rare collection of instruments. The collection also includes firearms and a hunting exhibition.
Classical music concerts often take place in this baroque private palace. When visiting the interior, it's worth taking a look at the souvenir shop and cafe. The entire palace complex was opened to visitors in April 2007.
