The Neptune Fountain is one of the seven baroque fountains built at the turn of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries in Olomouc. Above the irregular-shaped pool is the figure of the Roman god of the seas and oceans holding a trident in his hand.
The author of the pond standing on the steps was the Olomouc stonemason, Wacław Render. The sculpture of Neptune was made by Michael Mandik from Gdańsk. She stood on the Lower Market Square in 1683. Neptune's figure leans forward, pointing the trident down. He tries to silence the waves of water that spill out of the mouths of four seahorses at the foot of the god of the seas.
