The collection of the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb (Muzej za umjetnost i obrt) includes about 100,000 exhibits representing applied art from various periods, including antique furniture, ivory, ceramic and glass products, as well as sculptures, archival photographs, fabrics and graphics and images.
The presented objects come from the period from the 4th to the 20th century. The first exhibits were purchased in 1875, thanks to the then director of the Society of Arts Izidor Kršnjav. They were found in Paris at the auction of the inheritance of an outstanding Catalan painter and art collector - Mariano Fortuny.
The museum was founded at the end of the 19th century on the initiative of the Art Society. His headquarters is located in a building designed in the style of the German Renaissance, the author of the design was the famous architect Hermann Bollé.
