In the Botanical Garden in Zagreb (Botanički vrt Prirodoslovno-rozumatičkog fakulteta Sveučilišta u Zagrebu) you can admire more than 5000 plants of different species, this place is famous primarily for beautifully blooming lotus. Another attraction is the rock garden with examples of high mountain vegetation. Among the flowers there is a historic red pavilion, where temporary exhibitions are organized.
Tourists are happy to stop by the Victoria Victoria, called the "water plate", this plant comes from the Amazon basin, it attracts attention with both large flowers and giant leaves floating on the surface of the water.
The garden was founded in the 1880s, the initiator was the well-known botanist Antun Heinz. Earlier in this place there were extensive parks that formed the so-called green horseshoe surrounding the city center.
