The historic church was built in the years 1856-1867. It is approx. 30 m long, 15.5 m wide and 31 m high. It is crowned with a huge dome with 11 bells under it. In the temple, it is worth paying attention to the gilded iconostat, the wooden carved throne of the hierarch and the extended altar part. There is also a chest with relics of St. Stefan Milutin.
Although the modern building dates back to the 19th century, the history of the temple dates back to the 10th century. The first church had stone foundations, but a wooden structure. It survived until the mid-19th century, when it was pulled down to make way for a more magnificent building.
In the 1970s, the interior was decorated with a series of frescoes made by an artistic team led by Mikołaj Rostovcev. At the end of the 20th century, the church was thoroughly restored - the entire floor was renovated, the glass northern colonnade was added and the facade was cleaned.
