Located in the northern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bihać is a former strategic and defensive point and a medieval shopping center. Remains of the fortress have survived here, and the city of Traction is also the Una river with nice quays and the island adapted for recreational needs.
Bihać was founded by Hungarians in the 13th century. It quickly became a strategic point on the trade route, and due to the constant Turkish threat it was surrounded by walls. For centuries, the city was a fortress from which large fragments of the defensive walls and one of the towers have survived to this day.
Bihać's monuments combine European and Turkish influences. Within the Old Town you can see, among others the tower of the former Dominican church with an appearance known from the Croatian coast, the Fethija mosque converted from the Gothic church of St. Antoni and the Muslim mausoleum.
The main resting place for residents and tourists are the areas on the Una River. There are comfortable, shaded pedestrian areas, picnic areas and playgrounds. The island with a café and piers, developed for recreation, is the most popular. You can fish and go canoeing here.
