Veliki Slap is the largest waterfall in Croatia, created on the Plitvica stream. It is located in the Plitvice Lakes National Park - an area inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. In Veliki Slapa the water falls from a height of 78 m. The total level difference between the highest lake Prošćansko (636 m above sea level) and the beginning of the Korana River flowing out of the falls (480 m above sea level) is 156 m.
Efficient movement around the park is provided by numerous educational paths and well-marked walking and cycling routes. All lakes can be reached by wooden footbridges, leading through wetlands and magnificent, original forests. Wandering on the footbridges you can visit a total of over 90 smaller and larger waterfalls, passing by or under them, under the cover of rocks.
Moving around the park takes place on foot, small passenger ships or a wheeled train. Tourists have a choice of many routes with varying degrees of difficulty and walking time - from 2 to 8 hours of hiking.
