The main attraction of the palm house is the Butterfly Zoo. There are over 150 different species flying freely around the facility. The interior of the greenhouse, visually and in terms of climate, is similar to a tropical rainforest
The building was built in the first half of the 19th century. Its back wall was a fragment of the city walls. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, it was demolished to rise again, in 1906, according to the design of the well-known Austrian architect Friedrich Ochmann. In the years 1996–1998 it underwent an expensive renovation worth EUR 13 million.
