Bezirksmuseum Hietzing is a district museum whose collections relate to the history of the 13th district of Vienna, Hietzing. It is housed in a former school building, whose foundations date back to 1680.
The museum presents the historical development of the suburban Hietzing community from prehistoric times to the twentieth century. The Bezirksmuseum in its collection has many memorabilia of famous people: the Nobel Prize winner's typewriter Berth von Suttner, expressionist easel Egon Schiele, a model of the Art Nouveau Villa Primavesi built by the architect Josef Hoffmann. Due to the fact that the Schönbrunn Palace is part of the district, the museum also contains memorabilia of the imperial family and historical postcards with a panoramic view of Vienna.
In addition to the permanent exhibition, the museum also organizes special exhibitions and lectures on interesting facts from the past and modern life of the local community.
