Patsch is a holiday village in the Alps, an ideal starting point for hiking and biking tours in the mountains. In winter, it is also an intimate ski station with approx. 20 km of ski slopes.
The town has roots in Roman times. It was a trading settlement located on an important salt route. It also maintained its commercial character in the Middle Ages. In the center of Patsch, you can visit the medieval church of St. Donata, with an interior from the 18th century. In the vicinity of the village there are also two noteworthy chapels, the chapel of St. Edith Stein and the Heiligwasser pilgrimage site. The buildings of Patsch have a traditional, Tyrolean character, and on the facades of many houses you can see paintings on religious, plant and genre themes typical of this region.
The surroundings of Patsch provide many attractions for enthusiasts of active recreation. The main excursion destination is the Patscherkofel 2,246 m, to which numerous hiking trails lead. The surrounding valleys, which can also be explored on bicycles, also encourage hiking. A major attraction of Patsch is the Patscherkofel Alpine Garden, which presents plants characteristic of the alpine terrain.
In winter, there is a ski resort on the slopes of Patscherkofel, where you can take advantage of approx. 20 km of slopes of various difficulty levels. Its highest point is the Patscherkofelbahn mountain station 1965 m. The place is recommended for both beginners and more advanced skiers, who can ski here in a peaceful atmosphere. The resort has a family character, but also provides a high level of aprèsque services, including a fitness center, swimming pool, excursions in the area.
