+105 attractions

Recognized as one of the most beautiful regions in Europe, Carinthia is on the border of Austria, Italy and Slovenia. Here is the highest part of the Austrian Alps, Hohe Tauern, as well as over 200 mountain lakes and thermal springs. The main centers of the region are the historic cities of Klagenfurt and Villach.

Carinthia is a popular destination for trips at any time of the year. There are thriving ski resorts with around 1,000 km of ski runs, while in summer you can go hiking, climbing, cycling or water sports. For the most demanding and experienced tourists, the destination is usually Hohe Tauern with the Grossglockner peak. But also the lower parts of the mountains and valleys offer a wealth of trails with great views.

Carinthia's wealth is water. There are over 200 lakes here, the most famous of which are Wörthersee and Weissensee. Thanks to the mild climate, the lakes here warm up faster than in other regions of Austria and you can swim freely in the second half of May. Valden is a popular holiday resort on the Wörthersee.

Carinthia is a wonderful combination of mountain landscapes, blue lakes, small, built-up traditional village houses, thermal baths, of which the most famous are Bad Kleinkirchheim and great food from organic farms.
