Treffen am Ossiacher See is a tourist destination in an alpine valley. Its surroundings are ideal for lovers of nature and active tourism, both hiking and water.
The town has traditional buildings and its history dates back to prehistoric times. In its area, apart from pretty houses, you can see the historic church of St. Maximilian and the ruins of the medieval castle of Treffen. When visiting Treffen and the surrounding area, you can also visit the Mushroom Museum.
However, the main attraction of Treffen am Ossiacher See is its mountain setting. The valleys and surrounding peaks such as the Gerlitzen and Verditz are cut by a network of hiking trails. Additionally, in winter, there is a ski resort on Gerlitzen with 40 km of slopes of varying difficulty. It can be reached with the all-year-round Kanzelbahn, and the summit offers beautiful views of the surrounding area. There is also the Kanzelhöhe Observatory under the summit, with interactive exhibitions about the universe open to visitors. The picturesque Finsterbach Falls are a very popular excursion destination.
In addition to the mountains and related activities, Treffen am Ossiacher See also offers water sports. On Lake Ossiacher See, you can go kayaking, sailing, paddleboarding and swimming, such as the Gerlitzenbad.
