The Xhura Mosque in the capital of Albania Tirana is one of the largest Muslim temples located in the city. The sacred object was built after the fall of communism on a plot donated by a member of the Xhura family, where its name comes from. The mosque is a temple frequented by locals and an important tourist attraction in Tirana.
The Xhura Mosque recalls the era of the Ottoman rule and Turkish influence in Albania. Located some distance from the center of the Albanian capital and from the outside it does not resemble an object of Muslim worship. However, a single minaret reminds of the religious significance of the object. It is worth going inside the temple, especially on Friday, and observe the traditional prayers of the inhabitants of Tirana.
Tourists visiting the mosque pay attention to the beautiful voice of the imam residing here, i.e. a Muslim clergyman whose singing spreads from the balcony of a single minaret. Bilal Teqja creates a community atmosphere in the mosque and the prayers have a unique setting.
