Haji Ethem Beja Mosque stands at Sanderbega Square in Tirana. It is a very simple building on a square plan, covered with a dome. Next to it is a minaret. The interior's richness is the mosque's wealth. They are covered with polychromes with floral motifs. The mosque is used and prayers are regularly held here.
Haji Ethem Beja Mosque was built in the 18th century. It represents a classic and very common style for the entire Balkans. It has a simple block with a small vestibule. It is not only a place of prayer, but also a library and a cultural center. You can meet people drowned in prayer and reading books from the library located under the walls.
The Tiran mosque was during the dictatorship of Enver Hodży the only active religious object in the country. It was intended for members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Albania.
