Ranger's House - The Wernher Collection
Ranger's House is a red brick residence built in the Palladian style, located adjacent to Greenwich Park. Since 2002, the so-called Wenher's collection. There are paintings by Francesco Francia, Philippi Lippi, Hans Memling and Gabriel Metsu, as well as portraits of English painters. The second part of the collection consists of an eclectic mix of decorative art, including Renaissance jewelry, Byzantine ivory, tapestries, furniture and Sèvres porcelain, as well as the life-size marble sculpture "Love of Angels".
The Wernher collection was collected by German-born diamond magnate Sir Julius Wernher at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Earlier, part of the collection was presented to the public in Luton Hoo, which was the property of the descendants of Sir Julius until the early 21st century. Ranger's House has about 700 objects occupying twelve rooms, some of which have been arranged so that the collection is displayed as in a Bath House.
