Greenwich Market
Greenwich Market is a market hall known for its lively and artistic atmosphere. There are over 120 stands here, including antiques, works of art and handicrafts. You can also find books, clothes and jewelry here. The place is also known for kitchen stalls from almost all over the world and for concerts played by students of the nearby Trinity College of Music.
The original bazaar in Greenwich was located near the west gate of Old Royal Naval College, which was then a hospital building. He had a reputation of being a rather dangerous place, out of control. It was moved to its present place in the first half of the 19th century. Already in the 1930s, the first pavement and roofing above the stalls were laid here. At that time, mainly meat, eggs, poultry, and fruit and vegetables were sold here. The real revival and growing popularity of Greenwich Market took place only in the eighties of the twentieth century.
