Museum of the Order of Saint John
The Museum of the Order of Saint John is a museum of the Sovereign Knightly Order of Hospitallers of Saint John, from Jerusalem, Rhodes and Malta, commonly known as the Order of Hospitallers, Hospitallers, or Knights of Malta. The museum has a population of 60 thousand. exhibits a collection of weapons, armor, medieval documents, numismatics, medicines and medical equipment and paintings, including collections of images of St. John.
The exhibitions presented in the museum document the centuries-old history of the Knights Hospitaller, which aims to take care of the sick and wounded. It was established around 1070 at the hospital of St. John the Baptist in the Italian state of Amalfi. With time, it became a powerful knightly order that exists to this day and is recognized by many countries as a sovereign subject of international law.
