Museum of London
The London Museum is dedicated to the history of the city and the area where it lies. The permanent exhibitions feature chronological exhibits presenting history from prehistoric times to the present day. They are divided into historical periods, including the Roman Empire, the Middle Ages and the Civil War. The collections include paintings, diagrams, sketches and handicrafts. A significant part of the exhibitions is devoted to cultural aspects, some are interactive.
The facility was founded in 1976 in the so-called Barbican Estate as part of the reconstruction of this part of the capital after the destruction of the Second World War. In 2010, the museum underwent a major renovation and reconstruction, which cost 20 million pounds, but enabled the collection to be extended with exhibits dating from the seventeenth century to the present day. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions and workshops for children, including babies.
