Museum of Brands

Museum of Brands, Packaging and Advertising - in line with the museum's name, it collects primarily packaging for products sold in supermarkets, everyday items and their advertising. Among 12 thousand exhibits, there are such rarities as e.g. Rimmel cosmetics from the late nineteenth century or Mars and KitKats bars from the 1930s.

The first edition of the museum took place in Gloucester in 1984, where the facility operated until 2001. It is now a public benefit institution which has been operating in London since 2005. He considers his mission to educate the public in matters of design and advertising, disseminating collections and showing through subsequent thematic exhibitions "how we lived and how we shopped", i.e. constant changes on the consumer market.

Museum of Brands, Packaging and Advertising is the original idea of Robert Opie, who has been collecting packaging for brands present in supermarkets for 50 years, but was also interested in toys, games, travel, transport, telecommunications. He called his online collection British Nostalgia. His career began in 1975, when at the Victoria and Albert Museum he prepared the exhibition "The Pack Age" based on his collections.
