Chelsea Physic Garden
The Chelsea Physic Garden is a botanical garden with more than 5,000 different plant species. There is the oldest English rock garden and the largest fruiting olive tree in Great Britain. The whole is divided into several sections, including Medical Plants Garden, Pharmaceutical Garden or Garden of Edible and Useful Plants. Plants grow both in the open air and in greenhouses, which is especially true for tropical and subtropical collections.
Chelsea Physic Garden was founded in 1673 by the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries. This is the third oldest botanical garden in Great Britain. Only the garden at the University of Oxford and the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh were created before. Its original goal was to conduct research on the healing properties of plants. The garden was made available to the public in 1983.
