Serpentine Sackler Gallery
Serpentine Sackler Gallery is a gallery of contemporary art founded in 2013 in the former powder magazine building from the beginning of the 19th century. The warehouse, consisting of two large halls, was surrounded by a series of interconnected exhibition halls. A futuristic, jellyfish-like banquet and conference space has been added to the resulting facility, which is in itself a work of art.
The author of the Serpentine Sackler Gallery project is the famous Zaha Hadid (1950-2016) - a British architect from Iraq who was the first woman in history to win the Pritzker Prize in 2004. The structure she designed was made of a special glass non-woven fabric that gives the impression of lightness and temporariness.
Serpentine Sackler Gallery, has a several hundred meters high, modern, fully automated exhibition space. Presents contemporary art - the latest, on top, created by the most sought-after artists, such as Torbjørn Rødland, Ian Cheng, Sondra Perry, Christo & Jeanne-Claude, Tomma Abts.
