Polish Institute and Sikorski Museum

Polish Institute and Museum General Sikorski is a Polish cultural institution in London. The main department of the museum concerns the Second World War. Here are exhibits from the 1939 Polish Campaign, souvenirs from Soviet labor camps and prisons, and the uniform of General Sikorski, who was fished out of the sea after the catastrophe in which he died. There are also 90 banners of the Polish Army from 1918-1947. The next exhibition is souvenirs of various regiments, including battlefield urns. You can also see souvenirs of the Home Army and a collection of coins from the time of Jan I Olbracht

The goal of the institute itself is primarily to gather and care for the archives of the Polish government in exile and the Polish Armed Forces in the West. Currently, the archive measures about 700 m of current shelves, on which collections are stored.

The institute and museum were established in May 1945, initially as the Historical Institute of Gen. Sikorski. In the following years, the facility merged with the Polish Science Center, the Polish Historical Institute and the Underground Polish Study.
