Jewel Tower

The Jewel Tower, belonging to the Westminster Palace complex, was built in the years 1365-1366 for the storage of royal valuables. Occasionally it was also used as a prison. Starting from the 16th century, various offices serving the House of Lords had their headquarters here. It currently houses a museum.

The Jewel Tower as one of the few parts of Westminster Palace survived the fire in 1834 unscathed. It was seriously damaged during World War II. Since its reconstruction in 1948, it has housed various types of museums - presented here, among others. archaeological exhibitions and dedicated to the history of the British Parliament.

Since 2013, when the Jewel Tower was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, it presents an exhibition dedicated to the history of the building and its users.
