Wimbledon Windmill Museum
The Wimbledon Windmill Museum is housed in a windmill built in 1817. The exhibitions show the history of the building itself and the history of windmills in general. Some exhibitions are interactive. In addition to sightseeing, you can also take part in various attractions, such as traditional grain milling. There is also a small cafe next to the museum.
Wimbledon Windmill was built as a so-called koźlak, which is the most basic and primitive version of the European windmill. In this form it functioned until the very end of use. Then it was rebuilt into a Dutch type windmill. It has an octagonal brick base and consists of two floors, above which there is a conical tower, formerly housing the main pole.
Wimbledon Windmill appeared in the episode of "Doctor Who" under the title "The Massacre of St. Bartholomew's Eve (Bell of Doom)", which was filmed in 1966.
