Crossrail Place Roof Garden
Crossrail Place Roof Garden is a tropical roof garden that is part of the Canary Wharf complex. There are plants from all over the world, mainly from countries that in the 18th and 19th centuries were visited by ships importing exotic products to England. The garden was divided into two parts - west and east. A number of paths were led here, the main one on a circular plan and numerous smaller ones that leave it and die in the vegetation. Cultural events and concerts are regularly organized here.
The garden was opened to the public in April 2015. It was built according to the design of the architectural group Foster and Partners. The whole covers an area of about 300 m2. The garden is covered by a transparent roof, consisting of thousands of triangular elements made of ETFE, a type of corrosion-resistant plastic.
