Thames Barrier Park
Thames Barrier Park is a park founded on the north bank of the Thames, in the port district known as Docklands. It offers a view of the Thames Barrier, a movable dam more than 500 meters long. There is a Pavilion of Remembrance near the River, which commemorates the residents of the district who died during World War II. Around the park there are residential estates, which is why it was completely fenced due to security issues.
Thames Barrier Park was built according to the design of two architectural groups, London and French. The project by Allain Provost and Patel Taylor of London won the international competition announced in 1995. The arrangement of plants, especially the characteristic, longitudinal green stripes are to refer to the port heritage of this area. The construction of the park took five years, it was finally opened in 2000.
