Newham City Farm
Newham City Farm is one of the largest and longest existing city farms in London. Established in 1977, the farm breeds horses, cows, sheep, domestic birds, as well as ferrets, guinea pigs, and rabbits. Like other institutions of this type, it is supported by donations, conducting workshops, organizing special events and selling agricultural products.
The farm has its own orchard, apiary, children's playground and pavilions, and picnic benches. You can buy fresh eggs, honey, fruit and vegetables, as well as natural fertilizer. Farm employees provide gardening and breeding advice, run educational workshops for children.
The farm also runs a therapeutic program for people with various disabilities, in which outdoor work and close contact with animals are used as a means of improving mood and social activation.
