South Park Gardens

South Park Gardens is a small park and garden area created in 1901. Since 2002, the park has been under the care of The Friends of South Park Gardens, which takes care of park plants and regularly organizes various types of events - both recreational (activities fitness), as well as lectures, picnics, social gatherings. A network of alleys, benches and large tracts of lawns are conducive to jogging, walking and resting.

Around 30 different tree species have been planted in the South Park Gardens area, including linden, yew, cedar and more exotic trees such as strawberry and judas. Park gardens are a shelter for rooks, magpies, titmouses, blackbirds, starlings, pigeons and many other species of birds that have adapted to life in the urban environment.

In the years 2014-2015 the park underwent general maintenance works aimed at restoring its former character - administrative and utility rooms were created, alleys were renovated, many new trees were blown up and the flower beds were renewed. The funds for the renovation came from a grant obtained from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) - an organization formed by the British parliament that subsidizes projects related to the protection of cultural heritage.
